Default Why you should upgrade your clutch

2000 z28, port polished heads, ls6 intake, air/egr delete, LT's with 3 inch ypipe, 92 mm throttle body.

Going down the highway at 60 mph in 5th. Downshifted to 3rd for a pass and BOOM. . . no power. Took it out of 3rd put in 4th and nothing. Got it towed back home and above is what I found.

I don't have an exact number on the power that I am pushing as I still need to get her on a dyno. I am replacing the stock master cylinder with the tick adjustable and I am going with a spec stage 3 with a new flywheel. I do plan on more upgrades in the near future.

Looks like a stock clutch.

I loved my spec 3, but went with an LS7 recently after 32k on the Spec 3. Coulda got more, but my rear seal said no. Discovered that's why it was slipping when we pulled it. I miss my spec clutch, but I thought I was gonna have to let my wife drive the car for a little while so to prevent all the chatter and shaking I just put a smoother engaging clutch in. Thinking about swapping again though.

When I bought my trans am the guy said he had the clutch replaced. A duralast clutch from autozone. Did ok since I'm stock. Till I tried a burnout starting in second gear. I did not hold. Flywheel has 2 huge blue spots and the clutch was mostly dust. Ls7 clutch going in this spring.

I think you will like our Stage 3. Of course it is a bit more aggressive than your stock kit...but that's to be expected! Let me know if you have any questions and I will be happy to assist you. Thanks!!

Im not 100% sure if you have ordered your setup yet as far as clutch and flywheel. However, it is always a good idea to freshen up the hydraulics in the transmission as that promotes the longevity of the clutch and Transmission. If you have not purchased your clutch yet I encourage to you check out our complete clutch package with Monster. This package has everything you need to do a complete replacement!!
