Question about shimming clutch
Ordered a monster stage 2 clutch with 28# flywheel last week. Does shimming vary from car to car or would it be the same if someone runs the same set up as you?

whats the deal with having to shim? i have done several T56 clutch swaps, measured on every one of them and never needed a shim. why would the slave need shimmed anyway? if you take .010" off the flywheel then do you need to shim? im not sure how accurate measuring is anyway. maybe im doing it wrong but i dont think so

are there still compnays out there that are selling/ producing the incorrect pressure plate that requires shims? is there any way to visually tell if you have the correct pressure plate? if it looks like the old stock one then its good?

I think all this shimming stuff got started because spec clutches are not made like most other clutches, and often require shims to get them to the correct stack height. Why they didnt make them the correct stack height like everyone else i dont know.So now when everyone with a spec clutch posts up on how to install and shim there clutch, everyone asks about it and starts wondering if they need to do the same.If your using the same bell and not machining anything, then there should be no measuring or shimming required.I have done a ton of clutches from good companies and never had a problem
