Whirling sound
Alright, so I have a whirling sound coming from the trans when I release the clutch, when its pressed down it goes away. After much searching I am pretty sure its the pilot bearing. (It whirls when driving too. All gears including reverse. It shifts and drives perfectly fine just has the whirling noise through all gears. I do have a short stick but I've had that for a little while and noticed the noise on the way home Friday night. So correct me if I'm wrong about my pilot bearing assumption) Now in my searches I've read that some say this is normal noise others say its not and could chew up the input shaft. Its an 02 Trans Am with 78,000 on it. How long am I able to drive it like this (And I'm going to assume is bad for me to participate in the autocross I'm signed up for on Sunday)
Here's a video of the noise:

Sorry for the Necro-post... But I'm having the same issue, plus a loss of power. I think my clutch is slipping after 4k rpm's, and I get a really bad vibration.
131K miles, and likely all stock clutch components.

If you're sure it just started recently then it's probably not this. But, maybe part of the noise(s) you're hearing.
