Default Won't go over for reverse.

My trans am started not wanting to go over into reverse. It acts like reverse lock out is engaged. Sometimes it does it and sometimes it doesn't. I can take both hands (mgw shifter) and make it go over for reverse when it's locking me out but I have to force it. Solenoid going bad?

I think you are on the right track with the lock out|solenoid. No difficulty getting into other gears?

No problem at all. It won't physically move over far enough for you to push straight up into reverse. It's like the lock out is enabled all the time. I can't remember how many sensors are on the transmission but I'm wondering if my speed sensor is giving a false 2 mph signal sometimes making it enable

The reverse lockout is common failure on the T56. Check the fuse for it and connection as well. I believe this solenoid is always supplied power, the PCM controls it (ON/OFF) by applying ground to the circuit. I had one go bad in my C5Z, but it would allow a shift into reverse at speed, but since R is not synchronized, it would just grind, thank god!

In your case is sounds like there is a broken spring and the rod is stuck in the solenoid. Since you can over power it by force and go into reverse.
