Default T56 swap question

I'm looking at running a T56 in my '68 and have heard that they have issues with burning out 3 and 4 gear. Can these transmissions handle a 450-500 horse and 450 torque motor or should I be looking at strictly a magnum T56? Or is there a 5 speed route I should be going? I would prefer a T56 due to the ease of getting them and the price. Thanks for the help!

Anything will burn up if it is run at high mph an extended period or serious accel like a 700hp turbo car.

A properly set up pump is the solution. At 500 Hp and 1/4 mile use, I wouldn't sweat it.

T56 or Magnum will work. The Magnum will take more power

TKO 5 speed is another option

You're completely fine with a stock t56 at that power level. There's been many FI cars with 600+ hp and stock t56's.
