Default Shifting issues T56 2000 Camaro SS

this car has 110K on it.. I just picked it up a few months ago.. ..seems like most of the time it shifts 1-2, 2-3 fine but sometimes it wants to go into 4th from 1st, and grinds if you pull it down into 2nd. sometimes it doesn't want to go into 3rd from 2nd without grinding... Most times it shifts fine... this is normal driving, no power shifting, no high rpm shifting.. Clutch is fine.. I'm wondering if the shifter is faulty??? According to the owner's manual. the first guy that had the car put a B&M shifter in it at 36000 miles.

The 1st to 4th problem sounds like skip shift. That can easily be taken care of with a tune or the skip shift eliminator plug in thing if you dont want to have the car tuned.

Skip shift shouldn't make 2nd grind though unless you aren't getting the shifter into the gate all the way. If you push hard enough and over ride the solenoid it should go into 2nd no problem. I'd try the eliminator and if that doesn't work it's time to look at other causes

It will go into 2nd, but grinds... I did find that if I shift over 2K it doesn't grind 1-2 2-3 shifts.... Maybe I need to quit grandma shifting this thing.... haha

If you leave the engine off, does it shift easily, then get difficult with the engine running? If yes, that's the master cylinder.

High rpm shifting with poor clutch hydraulics is using the synchros to do the clutch's job. I bet the master is easier to replace than the synchros
