Default Shift Fork ?

Ok I have my T-56 all tore down. It is out of a 98 Camaro. I thought all the shift forks were steel except the 3/4 fork, but my 1/2 is alum. also. Are they all like that or what? If not where could I get a steel 1/2. Thanx for any help

There is no steel 1/2 fork . If you look at that aluminum part you will see that there is nothing that will bend that in operation.

It does not bend.( there have been the usual know -it -alls that spew that they have seen a bent 3/4 fork but look for yourself there is no way that fork bends) .It wallows/ wears where it slides on the shift rail. The affect is the same as a bent fork= insufficient travel/ jump out of gear/ clash shifting.
