SPEC is such a controversial clutch; its kinda like the old debates about SLP long-tubes.. except they never had instances of exploding like the SPEC clutches..
Man I don't know how much of those explosions were a cause of poor installation or product failure.. all I know is that those damn things shouldn't freakin' do that.
Go centerforce in my opinion.

I'm running a SPEC 3 and I couldn't be happier.
That being said - clutches explode, period. It doesn't matter if you're running a Ram, a SPEC, A Centerforce, anything. You need the proper safety equipment if you're using your car to it's potential. Look into a McLeod steel bellhousing or an Exotic Muscle Trans Blanket... cheap insurance against something that could happen, no matter which brand clutch you buy.

Too many of the SPEC horror stories come from people who have no firsthand knowledge whatsoever.
Somebody knows a guy who knows a guy who's uncle's next door neighbor's poker buddy's daughter's ex-boyfriend's dog's breeder's gay boyfriend Armando had one that exploded... and these people talk endless amounts of **** about SPEC without having ever seen or used one of their clutches.
If you've had one and had a problem, speak up. If you have a friend who had a problem, speak up. If you're just spreading rumors like this is middle school, stop.
I have a SPEC 3, had it for about a year and a half... 5000 miles or so. I've had no problems with it other than a little chattering when I first installed it. It holds the power well and drives well. That said, I think next time I'll go a different route, because their customer service sucked.
