Default Squeaking....

Whenever I press in on the clutch pedal a squeak comes from the cylinder that is connected directly to the clutch pedal. Im pretty sure it's not the throwout bearing, I tried putting some WD40 on it but to no avail? Anyway to get this noise to cease and desist or do I need to replace the part? Thanks.

What you are talking about is the Master Cylinder...mine has done the same for quite some time. Replacing the part would probably cure it, but I'm sure it would come back.

Ok, I thought it was the master cylinder, just didn't know if that was the right name and didn't want to confuse anyone. I take it that this isn't all that uncommon with people? Thanks for answering the questions.

I've known others that have had that happen to them...but I'm not sure how common this is. It is kinda one of those embarrassing things about my car that I usually just don't mention. My g/f never notices it, so I just let it bug me instead

Ya, Im pretty much the only one that notices it. I didn't notice it when I went along for a ride in the car before I bought it, lol. Oh well, that's why we have radios and ORYs.

On the master, pull the rubber fitting at the top of the plunger up and but some axle grease or something similar in there. Re-install the rubber fitting. Push pedal in a few times.

Worked for me.

WD40 won't work. It's not a true lubricant.

So what is the master doing that requires axle grease! Just curious. I agree with you guys, I was thinking that the noise was hydradulic related but I could not narrow it down.
