Dot 4
Is anyone using Dot 4 brake fluid in their hydraulics?...I've heard that it would require a different type of seal due to the silicon content??? I believe that the new ZO6 is using DOT 4...

DOT 4 has properties enabling it to withstand higher temps w/o boiling. DOT 3 is the standard issue brake fluid and will boil at a lower temp vs DOT 4. Boiled fluid is not a pleasant thing on a race track. 130mph heading into a turn and no brakes.
DOT 3 or 4 fluids don't contain silicone. Each is compatable with the other.
The only one containing silicone is DOT 5. It is not typically used for high performance uses. It is used in museum cars as the fluid won't harm the paint.
