Is this too much for a stock clutch?
its a 98 m6 (obviously) with lid/ ls6 intake/ ported tb/ hotcam/ ls2 heads/ pacesetters/ loudmouth/ stock clutch/drill mod master. The problem is that when I beat on it and shift from any gear the pedal will stick to the floor and I cant get it out of gear until the rpms fall. Sometimes under wot it will just let go from about 4700 rpm. Is this because the stock clutch (less than 10,000 miles) is just too weak? or is there something Im missing.

This sounds more like your haveing a M/C or slave problem not the clutch.I would first change the master and go from there. If you change your clutch out go ahead and change slave and master.

I agree, it sounds to me like you've got a problem with the hydraulics, not the clutch. Have you performed the drill mod? I would say flush/bleed your old fluid and see how it feels after doing so. Although, I also don't think the stock clutch is up to the task of holding the power you're putting down.

another perspective on the drill mod some people don't usually think of is that what if the slave isn't quick enough to return to the released position when the foot pedal is released?
For the pre 01/02 hydraulics this would be a BIG issue as what will occur usually due to the weak design is that AIR gets pulled into the slave since the slave can't move fast enough now.
I recommend going to a new slave/master that can deal with the drill mod better than the old stuff.

Also known that the pressure plates on the stock clutches have been known to cause these problems. At high rpm the diaphram spring is the problem.
Do searches here alot of the old stock clutch woes where not fixed until the PP was replaced.
I would just do it right, clutch set w/new hydraulics, & be done w/it.

But still the problem didnt really start until I added headers, but it wasnt really that bad. It would only happen sometimes. Then when I added the ls2 heads and the cam, it became a real issue. Im going to change the slave and flush the hydraulics tomorrow to see what happens.
