Default check this clutch out (spec)

okay guys check out my photos of this high quality spec clutch let me remind you this clutch was purchased brand new. it has only 2000 miles on it where 1600 of it was all highway with the cruise control set at 89 miles an hour this is no lie talk about luck tell me what you think and this was not due to install error i promise you that i had to pull out the tranny and adjust it 3 times with shims for just the 400 stop and go during break Can we say high quality I replaced Clutch brand, new flywheel, Slave cylinder, and bearing thank god for Textralia no problems whatsoever with them..

I lost track of how many miles are on mine but its probably around the same. I gotta rev it up to at least 2,300rpms just to get a smooth engagement without any jerking or shaking. My car idles at 1,100rpm if that matters

I have a SPEC 2 and its fine. Ive got about 4500 miles on it. Only one track pass. Its still feels great, its smooth, hardly any chatter. But you guys are scaring me. I'm starting to worry that I dont have much longer. Between buying the clutch and having it installed it cost almost $1300.

I dont understand how some people are burning threw all these clutches and not seeing much track time I have to think it wasnt shimmed correctly or someone likes to ride a clutch when it is an on and off type of clutch .

I've seen a lot of Spec problems. What the heck did we ever do to them?... Why do their clutches fail? You would think the company would have noticed by now and fixed whatever it is.

no there was no riding the clutch because it was all highway miles and it was not shimmed wrong because they sent the supposed correct shim which was the wrong one by the way it did not last 500 miles with there shim then i had to pull it and left it unshimmed which is what they (spec) told me to do. This seems to be the same problem everyone is having so we all cant be doing it wrong. its hit and miss with them some are good i have had great clutches with them but then others are just $h!t

agreed
ive seen ALOT of the specs go bad just from people driving them like a stocker and slipping it.
i got over 30k and 175+ hard passes on mine still holds fine
i dont slip it on shifts and barley on take off as do the others ive seen last fine. only time i slip it really is to warm it up after sitting in the staging lanes for over an hour to get some heat back into it .
plus your dealing with one of the most popular clutches so there will be a percentage that fail weather it be install error/bad apple ect.

Yeah I've seen many more RAMs fail than SPECs.
It's kinda hard to compare these to a Tex. It takes a friggin' loan to afford a Textralia. Even then you never know. My friend who has one has had random slippage for no reason from his Textralia as well.

I chalk it all up to driver error on most clutch breakage.

well ive had a few spec got a hell of alot of passes out of them and alot of highway miles but the last 2 being bad apples bad luck i guess and it wasent the way i was driving it because if you drive it like i did on this clutch and you can still burn it up in 2000 miles i will buy your next clutch.........

i've got a spec, had it for... 10-15K now i guess? i cant really remember. no problems though - hell, it's outlived a tranny, lol... we had the tranny out in february, clutch was installed when the tranny was out the first time (1.5yr before), and it looked fine. minimal amount of hot spots, other than that it looked great. so it's gone through 1 tranny rebuild, now on a 2nd tranny rebuild, and a broken rear (the car is sitting now, due to that). i'd say that's a pretty good track record. but i may be one of the lucky ones. (tranny #1 lost 3rd gear, tranny #2 lost the top gears (supposedly, it drove fine) due to a bad master/slave.)

I had a Spec 3 and it lasted pretty long with a LOT of track use. Then one day on the freeway, just cruising @ around 2500rpm a spring let loose and f-d up my pplate and disc. The clutch had quite a bit of material worn so I went ahead and bought another STG 3 with a new billet flywheel and a center spring let loose on a 1500 mile clutch...the rest of the clutch/flywheel hardly looked worn at all. Spec claimed abuse or installer error and wouldn't even look at it. I went with a Ram HD and it is holding GREAT so far. Pedal effort is a little more though.
