Default Clutch Pedal Pressure?

Well the other day i got to sit in my friends new 01 SS it has the LS7 clutch and i was shocked on how soft the clutch pedal was compared to mine. So my question is what is the difference? Is there any benefit in having a stiff clutch pedal? I know most performance clutches are really stiff but why isnt the LS7 clutch stiff? BTW i have a RAM HD clutch.

the stiffness of my clutch pedal doubled when i installed a new Ram adjustable master cylinder.

same clutch setup from before...new master and slave.

You can get different resistanace from different pressure plates.
An adjustable master to adjust the freeplay out of the pedal will help make the pedal firm up too.

What is the advantage or disadvantage of having a stiffer pressure plate or not? I am still confused on this. Can someone please explain? And i am talking about using the stock master.

A stronger pressure plate adds to the clamping ability, and the amount of load it can take before it is overpowered and your clutch starts to slip.

^^ exactly, the pressure plate is constructed to move with the assistance of a diaphram spring.
A heavier spring results in more clamping force. It is a measurable mechanical specification.
