Default Reverse Gear Help

The last few days anytime I need to put the car in reverse to backout, I have to jam the shifter over and push as hard as I can up to put it into reverse. No noise tho in reverse and stays in reverse fine. All other gears are fine and I dont have a problem with any of them, car only has 30K on the clock and the only thing I have changed on the tranny is a hurst billet shifter. Any suggestions on what to check first? Thanks

mine did the same thing along with a big "clunk" once it popped into reverse... found out later it was some sort of clutch/master cylinder issue...

it's not your tranny, but something to do with the clutch and it's parts...

sounds like your getting close to a clutch swap, and while your in there change/upgrade your slave and master cylinders.... and PLEASE make sure you get a bronze pilot BUSHING not a pilot bearing! Some times you just can't beat old school technology. I went through 5 pilot bearings and 5 clutches... last swap i went with the bushing like my tranny shop and my clutch shop recommended for the power of the LS1 and I notice a big difference in smoothness, noise, and engagement...

if it was a clutch/master cylinder issue, then why would it only have problems going into reverse, and not all the gears? sounds more to me like it could be the reverse lockout solenoid.

Since the fuse was blown I'd check for an 02 wire arcing/melted against the LT somewhere.

Search feature kicks ***!!! I had the same problem...rear O2 (unused) wire grounded to header and blew the ENG SEN fuse. Fixed in 5 min versus looking all day without finding this post!
