T-56 Centering Question
I have a 2001 SS with the T-56 transmission. I have been having a bunch of trouble getting to 4th gear from 5th, I always seem to end up back in 6th. I notice if I bump the stick to the left in when out of gear in the center the stick bumps right back into the 3-4 shift zone (center) but if I bump it to the right into the 5-6 zone, it just stays there.
So is it supposed to work that way or is it supposed to center itself back into the 3-4 shift area (Center) when bumped to the right. Is this a function of transmission internals or of the shifter? I added one of the SLP rebuilt shifters and a short stick.
Should I just a different shifter?

Ok, I have verified that my T-56 should be centering itself from either side and is not. The only question that remains is, is this centering a function of the shifter or the transmission? I imagine the springs for this would be in the shifter itself right?
