Default Preferred Trans mount ?

Sup guys .. My tranny mount is a RAP to say the least.. I think from the lopey cam in my previous setup it really took a beating. It goes up down left right, wiggle wiggle , You name it lol..

So i was wondering is there a preferred brand of trans mount i should get or just a stocker.. Im just looking for the best fix that will last.

I just put an Energy Suspension poly trans mount in mine last week, really tightened up the feel of the car....no vibrations or harshness that people sometimes complain about.

Is the energy suspension mount a little softer than the prothane version? I had one of those in my car and it was pretty loud and vibrated good. So im curious to see if the ES version is a little more forgiving than its counterpart.

Earlier today I was reading that poly trans mounts can lead to cracked trans cases so I went in search of a stock replacement. To my surprise neither Advance or Autozone were carrying them, nor could they get them for some reason.

I'm currently running a prothane mount and haven't had any trouble but if using one could lead to a busted transmission I'm not trying to have any part of that.

I have heard that but they say it can lead to that if you use a poly trans mount and stock motor mounts. Since the motor mounts will allow alot more movement than the trans mount will.

put the pipe down...

a solid transmission mount could cause the housing to crack, but not a poly one.

Nobody makes a solid tranny mount cause it would definitely crack the trans case. Pretty much as soon as the chassis flexed at all it would crack because the trans is bolted to the motor and can't move independently of it. The tranny crossmember, however, is free to twist back and forth as the chassis flexes so it would create play between the two ends of the trans.

You won't crack your transmission from a poly mount...

Hey Meent does your ES mount transmit alot of noise? My prothane did and i was curious if the ES version does the same thing or not.

I've actually never had noise problems, but I think most of that is attributable to not running the included preload plate. I've run it with stock motor mounts, and currently run it with polyurethane motor mounts, and I can't trace any noises to either. Then again, I might just be used to it by now.

Very true. I was just curious because the compounds may be a little different between prothane and energy suspension.
