Default T56 Acting Strangely!

Sometimes when driving my car around, the shifter will not want to go into second gear. It seems to be somewhat corrolated to engine speed, but not shift speed.
For example, I take off normally and wind the engine out to 4000 rpms (without hammering it) I go for second after a complete depression of the clutch and PSSSHGGRRRHHHH grind. It makes this sound if i shift quickly into second, and even if i take my sweet time getting into gear. Any thoughts, its really annoying and its real bad for the tranny.
Any and all help is greatly appreciated

Bleed some new fluid through the hydraulics and if that doesn't work I'd look into swapping out the master and slave before actually getting a rebuild.

Does it do it in all gears or just 2nd?

I'd start with a bleed of the hydraulics to make sure you are completely disengaging the drivetrain first.

If this only happens in 2nd and not any other gear, then as suggested, probably your syncro is already on its way out.

Damn, the car only has 22k stock miles on it. Strange... Not doing it at all today. a little stiff getting it into second, but no grind at all...
