ORY or Cats in IL?
Just wondering what everyone in IL (Chicago area specifically) is running with their LT's. Did you go with an ORY or pay the extra to go with cats and be legal?
Ive read that you only loose about 2-5 hp with a high flow cat
Ive also read that having cats doesnt really hurt you till you reach 500+ hp.
Let me know what you guys are runnin
Thanks

When I owned my WS6, it was a header/ORY setup, so I voted for that. My Camaro is stock with stock cats though, really there is no point in removing them unless you're doing headers.

Well i would be buying LT's thats why im trying to decide which route to go.
No problems passing emissions in IL/Chicagoland/suburbs with your old setup?
I know we only get OBDII scan on '96 and up, but what if they look under with a mirror?

And there are no mirrors used, at least not that I've ever seen. There is no visual inspection in IL for '96+ cars.

i voted With cats as my daily driver has them....really the difference/gains are insignificant vs ORY. Now my camaro is straight headers with Moroso Spiral flows slapped on the end, however even with ym trans am having catalytic nverters it isnt legal. I would easily fail smog tests as any vehivcle w/ Lt's likely would. with OBDII it is easy to pass even with a Procharged cammed LS1 dumped after a bullet muffler under the seats.

FYI, additional info...
Just got home 30 mins ago from taking my Camaro for the emissions test. Obviously I received only the OBD scan and gas cap test, but I was watching the pre-OBD lanes doing their testing as well, and NO mirrors were used, none even in sight for that matter.
Really odd that they use 'em on you.

Them: well we cant test it if it is leaking fluids.
