Totally forgot this page existed..... OH2LE there have been a few cars i have seen that have sheared the studs off. They mostly have happened from a ton of wheel hop and speed. What studs did you have?

Hey all, I have a 01 silverado with the 5.3, I want to start the engine rebuilding process but I'm going to need machine work done. Anyone know of a good affordable machine shop in northern Iowa? Or southern Minnesota?

Some of you may remember my old black 2004 gto with a speed inc built 408 with 150 shot on it. I sold that car back in 2008 or so. So nearly ten years later I finally bought something to start working on again. I looked at a lot of cars and came close to buying a C6, but I never thought I'd own one of these again...Just over 26,000 miles on it when I bought it a month ago. Has just over 27,000 on it now and getting dropped off at speed inc this week.

Thank you! Right now it's at Speed Inc getting a cam, headers, converter, and supporting mods. I went with a Texas Speed 228r cam and yank 3200ss converter.
That will give me something to play with this summer. I've been away from the lsx community for nearly a decade so at this point I'm doing a lot of research to try and decide what I want to do long term.
I've already ordered a bunch of stuff for the suspension and will start working on the drivetrain over the course of this year to get ready for more power.
My first GTO ran 10.2x in the quarter with a 408 and nitrous, but I'd like to do something different this time around. I really haven't decided what I'm going to do yet, but leaning toward a small cubic inch motor with boost. Either forged 347, forged ls2, or a 370. I don't want to get to crazy just want a nice street car that can still run low 10's at the strip on drag radials without pulling any weight out of the car.

Here are a couple progress pictures from the cam/headers/converter install at Speed inc. Tom called me yesterday evening. They had it done and on the dyno, but when the tuner was looking it over he wasn't happy with the cai on the car. It was already on the car when I bought it and even though I didn't like it I just left it. They felt that a stock air box would flow better than that junk and with the cam and headers I had they felt it was a waste leaving that thing on there. He said he could get a K&N cai in this morning and have it back on the dyno today so we decided to go with that.

Summer 2017 is upon us. Any meet-ups planned around Des Moines? Looking at something more F-Body specific versus the usual fifth gen, mustang, and import crowd at all the cars/coffees around town.
