Congrats! Although you don't have an FBody, once you get to Az checkout AZFBA.com (local Fbody site) and checkout http://www.cruisinarizona.com/cruisenites.htm for cruise-in's and other local car events. I just recently got out of the AF and moved to Az (originally from California). I hope these links help...

last time I was home was several years ago, but Luke was REAL nice then. New housing, lots of new facilities, new FP, lots of new. Though, having been there for forever, I can still see echoes of the past from growing up on base.
Buying a house in Phx is much easier than it used to be, BUT its still pretty expensive. Especially in new Surprise, Litchfield, Glendale, Peoria. Buying in Tolleson, Goodyear, Avondale, and west Phoenix should be easier. The problem is: are you REALLY sure you wanna live in those areas? My mom and dad are still in new Surprise, and while it is new, nice, and expanding, it's still getting pricey.
Try to mentally prepare for the heat. It's not uncommon for summer time to be about 115* in the shade. Water. Lots of water. Be sure your car(s) have REALLY well working a/c and cooling systems. It's gonna be a hot mother** in Phx until about mid-SEP.
Nice thing about Phx? Name something you like to do, and it's within a couple hours of anywhere in Phx. snow, watersports, shopping, racing, mountain sports, name it. Youll find it.

houses are still dirt cheap in west phoenix. You can get into a house for low low 100's. Mine was a new construction and i bought it 15 months ago and I got init for 148 (3 bed, 2 bath, 2 car garage, prem. lot, granite countertops, stainless steal appliances, 18x18 tile, oak cabnets, etc). With the new house incentives I got into the house cheaper then I could of gotten into a forclosure for 115k.
