Well hell I guess I'm the old fart here, retired USAF in Jan of 1992! Been in business for 23+ years hoping it's sold at the end of the month! Retire, retire and play with my toys in Florida! Bought my first LS motor last week. GMPP LS3 376/525 Connect and Cruise 6sp for my old Cobra Kit Car! Currently in St Louis area Scott Air Force Base!

I wish you well with your retirement plans!
Northrop Grumman, Melbourne, Fl has hired about 2000+ people in the last couple of years and plan to hire another 1000+ people very soon to support the new USAF bomber.
Kennedy Space Center and Cape Canaveral continue to expand the space program, many new very good paying jobs have come to this area in recent years!

He should make his job selections this week and hopes to find any of the 1AXXX flying jobs, but not flight attendant! LoL
The recruiting process can be a crapshoot and luck of the draw with job availability.
For everyone, if your kids want to go in the military make sure they get off any asthma Meds by age 13 and try to never let a doctor make that diagnosis.
I wish your son well with the waiver process and tell him to stay positive and if he has to go to MEPS several times, it is normal when you are dealing with waivers. I am speaking from experience...

I grew up in West Melbourne and first assignment was right back at Patrick! I will NOT be looking for a job! My sister moved up to Ocala about 10 years ago, I went down to visit her and really liked the area so I bought a house there after the crash of 07-08!
Recruiting was a lot different back in the late 70's when I was doing it! I did a lot of different jobs in my 20 years, that old "never volunteer for nothing" was so WRONG! I have been retired for 24 years and still miss it sometimes! Providing food for a PTSD meeting tomorrow at Scott AFB, I'm still involved with the VA and VFW.

Your a good man Al, donating your time for veterans in need and helping those with PTSD is noble cause and I salute you!
I am sure you didn't want or need what I wrote but I said it because more of us need to step up and extend a hand to those vets!

You are right there brother, we all need to do what we can and most of all we need to DEMAND the government keeps the promises it made to or wounded brothers and sisters!
As a whole I don’t think much of the last few generations but I think our military today has some of the finest young men and women it has every had! During the hottest part of the second Gulf War we had a lot of Med-Evac flights over-night at Scott AFB. I had a restaurant right outside the main gate and an understanding with all the Med-Evac night-shift supervisors. We would deliver whatever their patient wanted, on the house! A lot of these kids had been hit really hard, even lost mutable limbs, bad burns. They were so upbeat and thanking us for this tiny little thing we did for them, it was so humbling! I’ll never forget this one young troop that had lost his left leg just below the knee and had injuries to both arms. As we were setting out the food for them he began pulling his wheelchair down the hall with his just his right foot. A Med-tech asked where he was going, to his room to get us a tip! I held it together until I got back to the car! Damn seems like something dripped on my kybd!
It's the people you will always remember!

Just retired last July after 22 years Army. I miss it, but I also enjoy not getting up for PT every morning or coming down last minute on a weekend duty roster.
Transition got easier after I got a civilian job working with the Army.
