Judging from your username, you are a fisherman. I was in Vilseck from '00-'03, Bad Aibling '94-'96 and Darmstadt '99-'00 and the pike fishing is awesome! Get with outdoor rec, take the week class and get your German fishing liscense. Then fish the hell out of Grafenwoehr. They have catfish, carp, pike, walleye, rainbow, brown and brook trout. Also have Eels if you're into that. There are a couple ponds/lakes that they stock with rainbows, browns and brooks. Cats run in the 50-100 pound category. But my favorite were the pike. "Momma bigs" lives in L lake right in the middle of the impact zone. I fished "L" lake twice, when the impact zone was shut down for maintenance. It is nothing to catch 10 pound pike with fresh marks from other pike trying to eat those bitches. Our DSU Chief caught a 38 pounder near one of the Bradley ranges right outside of south camp (Vilseck). Another option is to fish German waters, but if the language skills are not too good, it will be difficult to get the daily liscense from the right people. They do not believe in "catch and release", so if you catch a fish that meets the mins on your creel record; bash it over the head, cut its throat and you may be done for the day.
If you get to Garmisch, go check out Lake Eibsee. Huge pike in there too.
Grab some Biere and start fishing!

Also another one here in K-town @ Ramstein AB. I've got roughly 16yrs off and on in Germany. Like Roy and Chris have said it's what you make of it. The place is a blast in a totally different kind of way. I'm here another yr and then head back to the states. Personally I'd stay here but the wife won't let me. LOL If you are coming over bring the car or you'll miss out!
Plenty to do and see here with all the traveling available to you.......time permitting of course.

Wiesbaden here, Germany is a beautiful country with plenty to do. The country is kinda expensive with the euro, but you get paid good cola. There are some decent cars (American), with plenty of fast BMW's and Audi's. Wouldn't recommend messing with the Audi's.

My car is midnight blue. It's not over here right now planned on bringing when I went on leave but that didn't happen. I'll just have to wait till I pcs. At least it gives me time to save for my upgrades. I want to run 10's with NOS. Silver SS what does your car run? I think I've seen it around.

I did 3 runs in Texas before I got kicked off. I went a best of 13.2 @ 109. In Alabama I went a best of 8.4 @ 86. That was before my cam and headers. I have pegged the 155 speedo many times. So I recently upgraded to a 200mph speedo in December. I have only gone 160mph so far. I leave here in May. So I have to max it before I go.
