Common Problem In 98-02 Camaros?
i was just wondering what are some of the common problems found in camaros since i hopefully will be a new owner of one in about a week or so, so i was looking into it to see what i should look for or what i should look for before i buy it.

if it has a monsoon sound system they tend to blow the front door speakers if abused alot...lol i have blown 2 sets.. and you can only use monsoon speaker replacements as the system works at a dif ohm setting than standard speakers youd buy at a stereo store. ebay has the repalcement speakers that apparenlty this bug has been fixed on i havnt bought them but i have herd of people having good luck with them.
the rear end..just dont dump the clutch or do a nutreal drop at 5-6k or so and your 10 bolt should live nicely..
also some engine noise during warm up seems to be normal to a extent.. make sure you can get a feel of how the previous owners treated the cars alot of thsese cars have been beat to sh&t so watch out! but honsetly they are a really good and reliable car i love mine and its never let me down!

Look for leaks , pinion seal , ac compressor , ps pump . T tops ? Any evidence of a water leaks . Power window motors going slow ,making noise or not working .Loud knocking or tapping from the engine when cold . Slight knock on cold start up it typical . Hazy or clouded headlamps . Check the oil level , if its low it could be a sign of excessive consuption. Check the coolant for sludge too . Listen to the rear dif on a test drive . Bad bearings or noisey gears . Hope this helps .Good Luck !!

Window motors. I highly recommend the Autotrix fix kits, you can get them from WS6Store (sponsor). Made my almost non-functional passenger side window better than new.
Rear end possibly, the 10 bolt is a bit small for these cars, in an auto it is probably OK in stock form, manual you can have some issues.
Crap stock shocks.

Rear end = rear differential . Big metal thing under the car that turns the axles on the REAR of the car . LOL
Just busting your chops !!
Sometimes they make a "humming or whining "sound while driving .

Here are the problems I've encountered with my low mileage (53k) '02 Z28...
- Differential is very clunky, whiny, and leaky
- Window motors are slow but still functional
- Some minor interior rattles, vibrations, wind noise
- Chrome plating on the wheels is flaking
- Piston slap on cold starts
- Ticking/tapping sound from engine
- A/C compressor clutch chatters when A/C is off
- Noise from driver side rear suspension in cold weather
High mileage cars or cars that have been driven hard can have additional problems...
- Oil consumption
- Worn out shocks
- Leaky t-tops
- Sagging doors
- More interior rattles
- Rust
- Worn out and exposed seat padding
- Loss of power and fuel economy
All that being said... I LOVE this car! It's my DD and it's a blast to drive to work everyday and then to the dragstrip on Friday nights, I feel like a rockstar driving around town with the t-tops off and the V8 rumbling, and I hope I NEVER have to sell it. If someone were to crash into me tomorrow I would go out and buy another in a heartbeat. Dollar for dollar an LS1 F-body is the most fun you can have on four wheels... period.
