I have seen cut outs pick up anywhere between 5-30rwhp depending on what modifications you have done to a car. A car that is making a lot of power will definitely pick up a lot from a cut out if you bypass the muffler, a stock car probably won't pick up all that much.

I would recommend you consider our 228R cam on a 114LSA for a decent N/A and FI cam. It will provide a broad power band an noticeable pick up on motor, while not having a ton of overlap so it will work well with boost. Feel free to send me a PM for call us if you have more questions!

My car has headers, an ORY and a cutout in the stock catback. When I open the cutout it drops .12 off of my 1/4 mile time as opposed to running the exhaust through the stock muffler. Hope this helps.

I don't understand why you wouldn't drop time in the 1/4 if you gain. Is the gain that small from the cut-out. Also I meant the current mods would that be a good mod to invest in? What size is the stock cat-back?

.12 et drop is not bad at all. I guess I will be giving QTP a call next week for sure .

The proper way to do a cutout is to have one per header and run it at the total collector length that is in "tune" with your engines operating range. There are programs to calculate this length for best HP production on the cutout. Depending on where you make peak power, and the rpm range you operate in during a 1/4 mile run, optimal length will yeild best results. For example, my last sbc 383 was peaking in the 6250 rpm range but held flat to 6500. Based on the motors specs and cam, optimal length was said to be around 18" in total collector length. I had headers with about 6" collectors, so a cutout would be best placed at 12" from header flange.

There are lengths that will hurt power and there are lengths that will make for optimal torque.
