You may gain anywhere between 10-20hp I believe.. I personally don't believe in spending close to 500 bucks tuning a stock car unless you can do it yourself.. hell I went a year after my LT header and exhaust install.. is it a m6 or a4?

I am no tuning expert but was able to take a friends convertible auto car with catback ,intake ,shift kit from 13.6 @103 to 13.3 @106 on street tires with a basic 50%reduction of torque management , shortening shift times ,increasing shift rpm's slightly and a wideband tune to 12.7 afr + or -.2 ( 12.5-12.9) in about 45 minutes effort and I only charged him for the 2 credits ($100) it would have run stronger if he let me remove more torque management like a big boy lol
I do agree if your going to do some bolt ons soon to do those first and then have it "tuned" as in ve/maf/trans tune (if auto)/fueling via wideband

Bolt on tunes are usually 350-450 bucks.
Also, if your an A4 look into a good stall converter as one of your top mods. Stalled autos can turn really good times with minimal mod's and a stall.

My TA is a 6 Speed T-56 all the way! ive got a volant CAI, Thinking about selling it and going with the SLP or FTP lid and Chris 1313. K&N Filter. Wanna go with a bigger MAF, P&P TB for now till i can afford a better one. Headers/exhaust coming around jan/feb time. This for now just to start. Also with an underdrive pulley

Don't forget the clutch.
What exhaust are you considering?

Your first visit to the tuner is usually the most expensive due to how HP Tuners and other software companies do their licensing. Once the VIN is on the tuner's license, you won't have to pay that up-front cost again. My first tune with H/c/I was $400. Later on I added LTs and a high stall TC, he only charged me $40 plus dyno time.

I've had a long day and didn't read the rest of the replies but, pricing for a full dyno tune, typically between $300-$500 depending on mods. You can get a mail tune cheaper where you just send the PCM to the tuner. Frost (www.tunedbyfrost.com) will do a mail order tune for a stock or bolt on car for $150.

For a break in period you should be ok since you won't be nailing the gas and going WOT. Once the converter is broken in and ready for WOT you'll most likely want a tune because a higher stall converter can mess with the shift points for the transmission on the stock tune....and please say you installed a trans cooler with the converter lol

Run the Volant since you've got it i would say, but if you can sell it and get you a FTP lid and 1313 without forking out alot of cash do it. Get the 98mm FTP lid and delete the maf. P&P the tb and hold out for the headers and exhaust. Slap on your UDP, tune that and you'll be in love.
Don't forget the clutch.

No gains really, I guess I should revisit that statement. Your porting your stock throttle body so I wouldn't in that case. I have a 102mm throttle body and rather than running a 100mm MAF I just went speed density and deleted the MAF. You proably shouldn't worry about it unless you were rocking a F.A.S.T intake manifold with a large mouth throttle body.
