Everyone has their own opinion on this, but I have always hammered my cars from day one. At 500 miles, I change the oil, and then again at 1500. Then on to normal oil change intervals. Oil is the life blood. Keep it fresh and the motor will love you for it. This goes for cars I have bought new (90% are performance vehicles) as well as any race motors I build/have had built. My school of thought hasn't failed me yet.

I flog mine, Once I build it, I will fill it with break in oil then I will run it until it reaches temp, then change the oil, refill with more break in oil, run the car for another 500 then change it again using the oil I plan on sticking with, which is royal purple for me.

Thanks guys, I know the oil is the most important for engine life.. Just didn't know if the dealership put break in oil inside the car and how long it lasts... And what oil... Just didn't like royal purple... Thinking penzoil or mobil 1.

A break in Is not totally for the cam, the rings and bearings need time to seat before its totally ready to hammer on. I like to get it running, let it get hot and get all the air out of the cooling system. Take it for a easy shake down run, change the oil then let her rip.

I didn't read the first post clearly.
New car right off the lot...sideways with the window sticker in tow.
Esp if it's a performance type car because you know the idiots at the dealership have already went hammer down.
When I worked at the dodge dealership, and the first srt8 challenger rolled off the trailer, the general manager and new car sales manager took it on a joy ride. Needless to say, me being a detail tech, I had to clean all the ******* rubber off the wheel wells before it went in the show room. I found a new job shortly after
