Default 317 LQ9 heads

My friend has a 01 Ws6 and he recently purchased 317 lq9 heads for cheap. Are those a good set of heads for a ls1 motor and what would be a could cam combo for that?

Mill .050 off the heads for stock compression and they flow like 243's so they are good heads. To stay smog legal in CA you need to keep overlap at -4 or lower so the Thunder Racing 224 on a 114 lsa would be a proven choice.
