they both run about the same.. my mccord opened alittle faster then most the qtecs i heard...
i had mine for a year with no trbl then the motor got smashed bottoming out(not the fault of mccord)

I've run a MPP2 for about 1.5 years now... no issues... I busted the switch but that was my own fault... i've since rewired the switch to work w/a much smaller switch...

I got the QTP last year and it has worked perfectly. It opens or closes in 6 seconds, so I'm happy with it. Sounds mean when it's open too!
I tell people "legal to loud in 6 seconds".

My 10-second car had a QTEC cutout on it, and that thing was awesome. I haven't seen the latest mccord cutout, but it would be very difficult to beat the quality of manufacturing on that QTEC. I plan on getting a few more for my other cars.

I believe Keith McCord designed the QTEC but then
there was some kind of breakup and squabbling, he
went and made his own version after. The quality
looks pretty good, I would add some silicone goo
in a couple of spots (mine has lasted pretty well,
being in a box on the shelf for over a year
waiting for me to get around to it) that look like
places for water to get into. McCord does a "burn-in"
before ship and had a bunch of switch options. The
construction seems generally high quality in the
mechanicals. I haven't had the same opportunity to
inspect a QTEC.

I've only got on right now in front of the rear axle, but as soon as I move back to VA and switch my short Jet Hot's to long one's, I'm going to run dual cutouts just behind the headers.
I think they said these things had like 150-200 ft lbs of torque and I have been over 100 before in 3rd and closed it off and it worked great. Once in a awhile, because of that motor torque, it will "bounce" back open a little when I close it, but I can usually bump it quick a couple of times to seal it. I love it.
And since my car is an A4, we couldn't put it in the ash tray, so it's sitting between my TCS switch and Pontiac emblem. Looks cool there. Up is open and a green light, down is closed and a red light, as I figured I can react quicker if I reach over and push down on it when I see a cop, so I made "down close" it.

I did, they said they could take care of it, no problem. Qtech used to use better gears, but now they are about the same. Some people just think the Mccord gears are plastic because hey are black.

QTEC is by far the best cutout! you pay what you get for...
i have had my QTEC for a while and it works flawlessly.. it is a very well designed and manufactured piece and a lot of my buddies have them and absolutely love them!
i have read many stories of the maccord(sp?) and how it will not hold up... just look at people's signatures.. you'll see that for every 100 electric cutouts 98 of them will be QTEC..there is a reason for that!
thats why i got one and love it. also their customer service is great, they are always there to help you out.
