What mod next???
I have my mind set on shorties (I know LTs are better, but I live in Cali), but I was wondering if anything else would provide comparable gains. I don't want nitrous and can't afford H/C. I already decided when I get a cam, I will get a LS6 manifold and change the pushrods, valvesprings and crankshaft (because I don't to be taking all that stuff on and off all the time) so I that will be an expensive project. Any estimates about how much that would cost? What else can I do? I just did a TB bypass today. I just need suggestions. Thanks.

I think you should reconsider that.
Do you have a 160 degree thermostat with fan settings changed yet? That's one cheaper mod you can do.
Cut out.
Weight reduction.

Anyway, you could do ported throtle body, pullies, all the free mods, weight reduction, tires, gears...

Dont go with the shorties!!! if your not wanting to do lt's at least get Macs or if your worried about emmisions and want the lt's go with the FLP set that comes with cats and straight pipes.
others mods id consider ASP crank pulley and sub frame connectors!

i believe in cali you have to have more then cats....
the cats have to be in stock locations and the a.i.r. eqpt has to be there too... shortys are really his only choice there(i think)
cutout is a must(and cheap hp)
ported tb is good for some top end hp.
you have to have cats but no one said they could not be high flow cats...
and look up how to swap a ls1 cam... i think you will find it much easyer then you are thinking...lol.....(its not like back in the day)

i do beleive there are LT's w/emissions fittings out there....and concerning the cats in stock locations that might be the case but if you have a catted y-pipe you might be able to swing it.

LOL! My car is far from legal, I don't even have cats and I live in Cali. All you gotta do is put the stock stuff back on when smog time comes. Easy as pie. And don't drive like an *** so a cop won't pull you over and do a exhaust check. If you do get pulled over, **** off the engine IMMEDIATLY so the cop won't be able to smell the fumes from not having cats.

Yeah, I can't really afford to put the stock stuff back on and I have no one to help me figure out how to do it myself. As for the cats, they DO have to be in the stock location so the only thing that will work is shorties. After I graduate next spring and start making the big bucks, I can afford a 2nd car, so I will get LTs. For now, shorties are my option. Also, someone mentioned SFCs, I thought WS6s came with those from the factory. Or would aftermarket ones be worth the $$?
