Default Re-Threading?

Anybody know how hard it is to Re-thread something. More specifically, i have a really nice hurst shift **** (t handle) but the threads are too small. What tools would i need, and could someone who has never done this before do it? Im pretty handy mechanically.

You would need a tap, but it probably won't run into the handle far enough.
I've seen adaptors for aftermarket shifter handles that adapt the threads per application. They usually come with the handle when you buy it, but you could try the local auto store.

I would imagine you would need a drill and a tap of the right diameter and pitch. Shouldn't be too hard to do.
