Default Best way to spend 6k on LS1

Im sure this has been gone over many times before but I have a 2001 ws6 pretty much stock except for a volant cai and slp full length headers and catback exhaust. Pretty soon I will have about 6 grand to spend on the car and would like to know what the best way to spend it performance wise would be (labor costs included). Its an M6 with 61k miles.

I'd get started on a procharger build if you wanna go that route.

Otherwise 6k will get you a nice HCI car...

New rear end with suspension a good clutch and cam and intake. Then you have some more power with a clutch and rear to hold it and make it more reliable.

I believe the procharger kit w/ install for my car was $8,000 with parts and labor included. All the parts in my sig probably come to around $4,000 with tune.. FI is alot more expensive.

while you have that big of a chunk do the rear like zmg00 is suggesting along with torque arm , driveshaft etc.. you will/can make gains by dropping gearing and being able to more aggressively launch the car.

Everybody makes power first then has to pussyfoot around breaking the rear end , I haven't had my m6 car to the track because I know it will break the rear with bolt ons and sticky tires never mind doing heads/cam or FI and expecting to ever use that power.

If you had an auto car you would be hearing heads/cam/convertor as they don't take the same type of shock a manual does on launch/shifts

What kind of gains would I be looking at with just beefing up the rearend? I knew no matter what I did go with doing I couldnt get too crazy with power unless I did that. It would just be a matter of time

IMO, the best is to do as much of the labor yourself if you have the tools and know-how.
FYI, it's not hard to get the cost up to $1350 just for supporting parts for H/C. For heads, the Trick Flow GenX 220 Cylinder Heads (TFS-30610001) are excellent, and will give plenty of room to grow for about $1750 assembled from Summit Racing.

Ha yeah I know the rearend could be done without pulling the engine. Talking about heads/cam. How reliable are the trannys?

4.10 are a good gear, hell I run 4.56 but mine is a street strip car. Ran 4.10 back in the day and loved them for street driving hell still got 24 mpg. Also you do not have to remove the engine for heads and cam install.

Procharger for sure. That H/C will get boring fast and you'll be wanting more in a year or less. Either setup will require a better clutch. Keep the boost low until you can afford a new rear and don't hit it too hard off the line. A procharger install will be easier than H/C if your doing it yourself.

A new rear with a driveshaft etc an expensive bitch....budget 4k for one and anything less will be a bonus.

save your money, burn the car and never look back. it's a dark road you're heading down. first you'll be spending 6k on an engine just to break a transmission and rear end. another 10k to fix the trans/rear, then the engine will let go. after the engine lets go it will sit in a garage for 3 years and you'll lose interest. then your window motors will go. it's always something. put the money in the bank IMO LOL.

If I were to stay naturally aspirated for the time being, would changing the intake to a 92mm be a wise decision?

That might be my plan for next summer. But I am worried on how power varies on a 383 ls1?
