ls to muncie; what starter do i use?
another noob question for the noob section.
which starter is going to bolt up to my ls1/muncie combo? running the 05 chevy truck flywheel and a chevelle big block clutch.
thanks again for the wealth of knowledge that you guys share!

The starter is really matched to the flywheel so you would run an LS-style starter..unless you've got some oddball bellhousing with a weird bolt pattern(not likely).
I had a 5.3 LS motor with a 6.0 flywheel and some 12" clutch(haven't checked the numbers yet) and a SM465(Muncie granny 4 speed) in the CJ7 and it worked perfectly with a standard LS starter in it. I'm in the process of replacing with LS2 and am just transferring everything over.
Apparently this setup will not work with any factory pilot bushing/bearing and Novak conversions(novak-adapt.com) sells one that fits in the LS crank and also fits the input of the Muncie. Maybe they exist elsewhere but that's where I got mine.
