Default LS Notch.

Howdy,

Ik its been done a bunch of times before and there are prob. a 100 different threads but my post count wont allow me to shop and I'd like to get some new ideas and info..

I'm currently trying to acquiring parts to build a LS(6) hopefully Fox coupe. Im about to move on a roller, 4cyl car with an 8.8 rear end and 5 lug axle's. My goal is to get it a pretty quick (410ish WHP) streetable car. No crazy suspension or cage. Tubular K-member, A-arms and decent breaks. Looking to go T-56 for the trans and some type of long tubes..

If anyone has any positive input or suggestions, it would be greatly appreciated. Especially if there are some parts that are needed that might not be common sense.. Thanks guys!

First suggestion, you don't need an LS1/LS6 for the numbers your looking for. Look for a solid 5.3/6.0 Iron block. I'm in the middle of a turbo 5.3 build in my notch.

^ that

5.3 with bolt ons would more than likely be cheaper than a stock ls1...and certainly cheaper than a stock ls6.

6.0 would even be easier to make your goal power but generally are a little more expensive than the 5.3 (but still less than the LS1/6)

I personally recommend the AJE K Member. There is many to choose from tho.

Is your Fox an auto or manual? That being said, you will have to pick up a pedal assembly from a T56 car for the fox. Unless you specifically want tubular A arms....you don't NEED them. Stock control arms can be used with some tubular K members.

I would look elsewhere for a k-member than a AJE. There is better companys out there, my experience with AJE k-member is poor, not 1 but 2 k-members. Anyways good luck with the build

That's weird. Had 100% no complaints with mine. Installed like a breeze. All holes lined up perfectly.

I use 351W long tubes and then use the LS1 flange for the headers, fits like a glove.

I used and aje and it was great with no problems. I also used Kooks headers, lil pricey but fit great and can run a clutch cable still without any issues and steering shaft clears good.

Fitment was good expect for the lower control arms ( aje control arms ) the arm wouldn't come close to going in. Returned that one and got another one and that one was worse than the first one, so I cut and moved the ear to work. I did by these threw summit racing, my only thought is that aje is selling the f- up ones to big companys. So that being said with my experience I would not buy another one from AJE.

I'm def set on a LS1/6. I want to make more power eventually and keep the car light and N/A..

I've been reading a lot about the AJE K-member, I originally thought Maximum Motorsports for a K-member cause being a ford guy thats what i'm used to. I'll have to look into them more. How hard is it putting the T-56 in, with the whole hydraulic clutch and what not?

For the hyd. clutch many will use a Thunderbird turbocoupe pedal assembly and modify as needed. Some have adapted the factory pedals to an Fbody clutch master cylinder. Just do your research and you will get more exact answers. Tons of info within the build threads on here.

Carb or EFI?

Mcleod makes a hydraulic slave cylinder conversion kit for Mustangs. Would probably work for you. Check with Promotion http://promotionpowertrain.com/

The UPR K-members are really hard to beat for bang-for-buck, light weight and fitment.

The maximum motorsports is probably the best built K-member out there. Maybe Griggs, but #2 at worst.

Anyone looking for deals on UPR/Max Moto, lemme know!

Steve
