new member and first LS1 OIL LEAK HELP
Bought my first 2000 Camaro z28 yesterday and it has an oil leak. I was wondering if anyone can let me know if there is any oil lines or sensors i should be looking for that could be leaking? Previous owner said rear main was leaking but i wanted to make sure before i pulled the trans out. THIS IS MY FIRST 00 CAMARO AND MY FIRST LS ENGINE.

Make sure ALL of the PCV hoses are in good condition. They tend to break on the back side of the motor & oil can run down and look like a rear main seal leak. You can replace them for about 15.00 worth of vacuum hose

Oil leak Z28 just went through this.
Could be many things.Maybe not rear main though. For me it was a few things. 2002 Camaro Z28.
1) Rotten PCV hose behind the Intake Manifold and rest of hose. I chose to replace with factory. It is upgraded from original PCV. Many guides to rig this up. Factory replacement online about $70.00
2) OPSU. Even though this was not the source it will break when you remove the Intake. Order one before you do the job. It was brittle as , well just trust me on this one.
3)Map sensor on back of intake needed a new seal. Got it from Jegs for $5.00 no oil but good to do while your back there.
4)Cam shaft sensor Oring.
5)Intake Gasket kit.
6)Throttle body Gasket
Not sure which of these cured oil leak. But no more oil for now at least. One more thing when your back there replace the vacuum fittings that control the HVAC and a couple of other things. Those fittings are likely bad to the constant exposure to leaking oil. It breaks down the rubber and causes vacuum leaks. If your HVAC control panel is not working and air just blows up via windshield defrost vents. Its likely your vacuum leak is behind the Intake Manifold due to these rubber fittings.
Good Luck,
Rob
