Before 98 there were. T-tops came standard on all 98 and up trans ams. I don't know if there was a hard top option or not.

I tried to order a '01 TA with the T-top delete and you couldn't do it. Bummer. I'd be driving a sweet WS-6 Ram Air right now if you could. So I ended up going with a Z28...the Formula just didn't look good to me like the TA does

i think i like the formula better than a ta especially the front...if i had to change anything it would be the spoiler...

I'm another fan of the Formula over the TA, especially the front clip as well. I think the spoiler works for the Formula. Believe it or not I think the LS1 Formula is the best looking car on the road excluding high end cars and exotics and such. But I love the look of all 4th gen F-bodies...be it a TA, Z28, etc

I guess one could buy a formula then put the front and rear bumper and the spoiler from a TA on, if one actually wanted to go through the hassle and $.

Actually...I believe there was a hardtop TA. Very rare of course if I'm correct. I seem to recall picks being posted. I think it's the same car that has the factory "directional" looking wheels.

I like the formula hatch better than the t/a hatch. Plus the formula hatch has to be a lot easier wash and dry off when cleaning your car. I'm lazy and always wished I had a formula hatch when I washed and waxed my car. It also always seemed to get dirty between the wing and deck......nothing but a pain in the *** if you ask me but like I said, I'm lazy.

I love the TA's with the spoiler delete.

I'd like to build a stripper forumla with a TA hatch with the !spoiler mod, and no ram air.

unit, im going to have to disagree with you on this one. ive searched all over for a while now, and couldnt find anything about it. only that poster with that TA. but if you can find something, ill change my mind of course. and what do you mean by 'directional wheels?'

as for the formula hatch being easier to wash...negatory. lol. its a big bird bath, but other than that, i guess its not bad. lol

Isn't there somebody out there that can look in GMs master database and see if one ever existed? We have numbers for just about every other production thing ever made...

There is definitely at least one hardtop 98TA out there, because Car and Drive test drove one when they first came out, I've got that magazine somewhere in my basement (unless I threw it out). It was a pre production model I believe, so it may have never ended up in the hands of the public though. This car also came with cloth interior, which is rare too since 98 and newer TAs came standard with leather.

I have that poster as a tin sign. Funny thing I never noticed the hardtop, but I did notice the 16" base Trans Am chrome wheels with "WS-6" center caps. The base T/A wheels had "ABS" center caps.

I have that same tin sign, I noticed that too, aren't those the regular 16" T/A wheels ? I bet its an artist's rendition of all these cars...
