Default 1st LS1 $6200 did I get a good deal

well while i'm not new to the f-body. I've had 3 lt1 powered cars one A4 ,2 M6's range from stock to heads and cam. yesterday I got a 99 black ws6 transa am. it had a few problems and I'm trying to figure out if I got a good deal. heres the rundown on it. WS6 T-top M6 with black 17" Zr1/grand sport wheels and 275's front 285's rear with 15-20% tread left cat back power seat with lumbar charcoal leather not rips not showing much wear. but the driver did weight like 300-400lbs(no joke) and broke the up/down adjusters in back bottom of the drivers seat. they also removed the radio(didn't cut wires just unclipped it. has traction control I pulled the speaker covers and they all have JL audio speakers and the ones in the back seat have had sound deadner put in behind the panel, looks professionally done. car has drilled rotors in the front and and aftermarket panhard bar and sway bars, and some red springs(looks like it's a 1/2-1" drop) didn't look at torque arm. car has no dents all lights and power acc. work PS pump doesn't have long left. car has no dents few stone chips. mass air is also going bad and has set a trouble code, but motors runs perfectly fine. it has 100,349 miles and a clean title I paid 6200 for it. I think i got a okay deal does that sound right to yall.

A 99 LS1 for $6200 (even with the minor problems ) is a damn good deal, probably take $1500 to replace the seat, get a new HU, PS pump, and some new tires (maybe less if you get used parts or shop around)

sounds like a good deal to me. What power steering problems are you having exactly? Give us the check engine light codes, maybe can save you some money so you dont buy parts you dont need. Post some pics of it also.

You got an amazing deal, when i got mine i paid $6200 for it 2 years ago, it had 99k on it, good condition, except for the front bumper, and that was a dang good deal. For you to get a WS6 with the FEW things wrong with it your very lucky!

You got a WS6 with a few good mods and rims for pretty cheap. I mean add up the price of the rotors, rims, panhard bar and sway bars. The things to fix seem very minor and if it runs good sound like you got a real good deal.

today i paid 450 for a door it black no scratches and was off a trans am so it has the correct molding and I got a power seat track for it to fix the seat. the PS was bone dry I put all the fluid I had in it when i unloaded and it sucked it up but worked somewhat it leaks some I'm not sure where I haven't jacked it up yet. I'm getting a head unit (moonsoon) for free from my friend who is replacing it with a aftermarket one next week. and one of my friends just bought a new mass air for his Lt1 car and he works at the parts store and said if wwe can find a old one we could turn it in on his warranty, one I think I know where one is as long as it hasn't been thrown away. so all I need is tires and a pump.

Fill up your resevoir on the power steering. Have someone turn the wheel slow left and right all the way, and look under the car. Look at the rack and pinion boots and see if you see fluid pouring out anywhere. If not, then check your lines, and the pump, and resevoir. You can get the lines for around $60 at the dealer at cost, the pump around $200 at cost, and the rack and pinion is around $450 at cost. Dont know about the resevoir price (not much at all). I've checked for rack and pinions at auto part stores here, and they are all different from mine, and thats what my problem is. Hope that helps on your p/s issues.

I dont think your mass air sensor is bad, check your fuse box closest to the radiator on the driver side. There will be a SES fuse in there, and that goes with the mass air. If its blown, theres your problem. If it keeps blowing, you have a short somewhere. I had this problem with mine also, otherwise I wouldnt be telling you this.

Hope all of this helps out man! Let us know if you figure anything out. Enjoy the car, you got a great deal on it.

i don't have a digital camera but my friend does if might be a week or so before I get some pics i need to to buff it to get some blue overspray off where they painted the door molding(I took the molding off) and painted the hood and fender vents charcoal.
as far as the power steering goes I've been busy trying to get the tranny rebuilt on my dad's S10(4cyl, gas mileage) that he usually drives to work. so I haven't even looked into finding the leak on the car. the reason I need a mass air is it's not on the car at all. the motor runs fine off the map sensor but I am going to put a mass air in it before I drive it.

I bought my wife's '00 B4C at auction from the Colorado Highway patrol with 93K miles for $4500 (!).

That was a teaser, even though it is true
Not quite the steal you would think. The sunshell in the 4L60E was annihilated and the car only had 1st and 3rd gears (no reverse even) plus all 4 tires were pretty much trashed.

However, once the tranny underwent a complete rebuild and 4 brand new tires were mounted, the car was fine.

111K now with no problems other than the (typical) window motor failure.

Make sure to check the driver side door and see if its a real WS6! Sounds like a good deal even if it isnt a real WS6!
