I'm no expert, but I would think it would be best to get your car dynoed to find out where the peaks are and what kind of curve you have, then base your shift points to be just barely past the maximum peak in the HP/rpm curve. Every car is going to be a little different, nothing drastic, so if there are any stock dyno graphs posted here, you might base it off of something like those.

Stock rev limiter is 6250 if I remember correctly. With the power curve of the stock cam, it'll do you no good to shift any higher than 6000rpm. Also, know that your factory tach is not very accurate. You should invest in a shift light and set it to 6000 so you're actually shifting where you should be.

Follow jmm98's advice. I got a shift light recently and now I see how damn slow the stock tach is. Most people with stock internals shift from 5800-6000 rpm. Shifting any higher than 6000 won't do any good, as your car is making less power past I believe 5600 rpm (I _think_ thats where the peak hp is with a stock car). Not to mention with the slow stock tach you risk bouncing off the limiter and really messing up your time on the track.

yeah its 6250 rpm's, like mentioned it prolli wont kep pulling at that point so 6k is good, and if u want your stock valvetrain to last as long as possible i wouldnt shift past 6k all the time anyways.JMO

SI with the light set at 5800, was 5900 but the car revs faster after the dyno tune and I wanted a little more time to react. Now it has gears as well which adds to the quick revving.

Here's the graph of my car, look where it peaks, falls off, etc, it'll help some better understand what we're talking about as far as shifting TOO high.

Well crap, that run doesn't show past 5500 for some reason. Here's another one, more hp, a tad less torque.

Oh, btw, 6200 is where the fuel cuts off.
