Default Looking for help... Mod list here

hey everyone... I'm new to this kinda thing so have patience with me.. But neway.. I drive a 2001 automatic ws6. im looking to maybe make close to 450hp at the wheels on all motor. the car is mostly stock.. i have an SLP lid, air box, and smooth bellow. here is my mod list that i am planning on doing this winter..

QTP long tube headers
QTP off road y pipe w/ dual QTEC cutouts
SLP loud mouth II catback
Yank 3400 Nitrious converter
Spohn Adj. LCA'S w/ sepherical rodends
Spohn Full length adj. torque arm
Richmond 3.73 gear
BBK Intake Manifold
SLP high flow MAF sensor

LOOKING TO CAM IT ALSO!!. i want an agressive cam but one that isnt that noticable.. i have a nitrious kit but it has not been put on yet.. the car will be set up for 100 shot. i need opinions on whether or not i should run this set up or what set up i should run. thanks

Your really not going to get 450 rwhp without heads or a 90/90 set up and a large cam. Tuning does have a lot to do with the cars power so find a good tuner and you have an auto so dont bet on 450rwhp and you might want something bigger than the stall you have lister for that kind of power

with the converter, what kind is good? a buddy of mine has a neon... its one bad machine... ne way, he has a 3500 but his car will not move until that 3500 mark is hit. but ive heard from other people that certain cars do not do that. this is going to be a street car and taken out on weekends.. i dont want anything disgustingly big.

You aren't going to make 450rwhp with stock heads, no matter what's bolted to them or what cam is in it, especially with an auto. The only way to make that power on stock heads is if you've got a blower/turbo pumping air in.

Do a search on some existing setups and see what they're running. A set of small-bore 225cc AFR's and a big cam could get you there with a nice tune and full bolt-ons.

To get mid 11s on stock heads in an auto, you'll need a loose (4000-4400) converter and a good amount of suspension work.

Oh...and a big cam.

Times and power is not as related as you think. SUX2BU went 11.0 with boltons, no cam, no heads.

Spending money on making your car dead hook and cut a 1.5x 60' will do a HELLUVA lot more for your ET's than a set of expensive heads. If you're looking for a ***** out highway roller with tons of break-neck power, then you can devote all your money to motor mods.

90% of the cars in my area who have the power to beat me can't put it to the pavement. Tires/suspension can win alot more races than 40 more HP.

also, save yourself a few buck and dont buy the slp maf (keep the stock one), have your stock throttle body ported, and buy an ls6 intake instead of the heavy *** bbk

Ok, good choice on the exhaust, i personally love my td's i would say look into a good 3'' setup either an X or an H however the cutouts will be great to. Furthermore, i would go with theblurls1 on his head suggestion....get a good match of h/c cam prolly in the range of 238/242ish with a lift about .604, then if your gonna run n2o maybe have a couple degrees of timing in the cam like a 114 lsa +2 or you can just have the timing adjusted in the tune its your choice.... now price is a big issue here...im not sure of your spending limit but ill keep going. ditch the bbk intake and throw on a 90/90 combo....that right there should get you your 450 mark pretty good no n2o necessary

List
1. cam
2. heads
3. 90/90
4. 3500 or better converter
5. SUBFRAME CONNECTORS (WELD IN)
6. your 3.73 gear
7.qtp exhaust
8.lca's etc.
9. tune

if your gonna do n2o check the n2o section

1. wet kit preferably
2. rpm window switch
3. full throttle switch
4. wideband controller (if you can afford it)
5. bottle heater
6. purge

i would say with that setup you would have to be 450 n/a at least and around 600 on a 150 shot good luck
7. remote bottle opener (optional)

Well you don't need to change it at all, the LS6 is great untill you go ***** out with a H/C setup, then you might want to look at a FAST 90mm intake/TB. I also recommend sticking with the stock MAF as mentioned.

He's got every bolton you can imagine, 3-speed auto (TH-350), and like a 5k stall. His car also weighs less than 3k lbs and has full suspension with slicks.

This is what I mean when I was talking about ET's, they are relative. I'd much rather drive a cam'd car that runs 12.0 with a full interior, no weight reduction, on street tires with the a/c blasting, but some people want to go ***** out.

Other guys have gone 10.2's @ like 130mph with just a cam.

You've got a lot of figuring/reading/learning to do before you actually "do" anything, or you may not be happy with what you get in the end.

I am no expert, but from the time I have been on here, I would steer clear from qtp's y-pipe. I would go Kook's personally.

It's already been said. Suspension, a loose stall and a big cam, plus all the bolt ons.

For suspension, check out BMR, for a convertor, check out fuddle or yank, and a cam, check out TSP, FMS and Thunder, just to name a few.
