im also looking at the cheater cam,,with heads (they sell the package for like 2 grand plus,),,,,im really never planning any nitrous,,,will heads make a huge diff, or would the cam account for most of the "nearly 60 RWHP gains? Am i just way off?

well im thinkin about the cheatr b/c it works really well with stock heads and cats....i heard rumors of 400hp on a stock LS1 but i dont know if that holds true or not.....i've heard nothing but good things about it though. personally, if you are gonna buy heads n cam, u might want to look into like a torquer cam or somethin. im kinda new to the whole ls1 group though so, thats just to the best of my knowledge

Hey man, I would do some research before you pick your cam. Check out the "internals" section, there is a sticky at the top of the page with all kinds of good info on cam selection for LS based engines. There are a lot of cams that make good power with stock heads. But another thing to look at is driveability. Do some searchin on the site, hell even call a cam company and tell them what you're lookin for. Just my $.02

Great cam I just got mine installed by Thunder Racing. There have been a couple posts on this subject in the past week, internal engine section if you want to do some research. Long story short: No noise, comes with strong springs, idles smooth, feel power all the way up. Also its good for 360 whp on stock with a 6 speed, probably a little less on an auto.

me and a friend installed this cam in a SS. Along with a set of AFR 205 heads, a FAST intake and a FAST 90mm TB and boltons....

tuned it dynoed 437rwhp and 425rwtq (give or take a hp/tq)

sounded like a stock cam with no cats.
