Default new to drag racing need advice

Ok well tonight im headed out to the track for the first time just see what its like to be able to push my car. Are there any common courtesy rules or anything i should know before I run? Only thing ive really been told so far is to not leave my AC on when im in the lanes and to skip burnout pit if I have street tires

This is a pretty good rundown of what to do on your first trip:

It's the only way to learn. I've made about 12 passes in my whole life and I'm far from getting it right. Its not the same a street racing.

1) Make sure you bring a helmet (check the date). The track I go to will not accept just any 'ol helmet.

2) Make sure you turn off the traction control. I've blown 2 runs with it on.

3) If you live far from the track, bring something to wash that damn white shoe polish off your windows. The longer it's there, the harder it is to get off.

4) Talk to everyone, don't be shy around the f-body guys especially. They're all cool.

If your running in the right lane and somehow you outrun the man in the left lane don't turn in front of him at the end of the track. He might not be able to stop and could plow you thru if you see my point.

I do that all the time. Of course I am usually lined up against 17 second economy cars with a big wing so if I was to wait for them then I might have enough time for coffee, a cigar and a nap

But in a closer race then yes I yield to the left lane as you suggested.

good read, i haven't been to the track either and that was very helpful.

The couple of tracks i have been to to watch, they didnt have even close to those kind of regulations.
