Default How to make 420 to 450 HP

First i want to let everyone know i'm new to the forum, and i just became the owner of a 98 Z28 red in color . My question is how can i make 420 to 450 hp without nitrous, supercharger, turbo. The car is bone stock except for the cags shift eliminator, K&N air filter and a flowmaster exhaust that is going to come off just as soon a i get the magnaflow . I'm interested in putting a new camshaft in it, but i'm not sure of the specs i should get. i would like to have a cam that produces noticable hp and tq number but not sound like a drag car. maybe some of you guys can chime in and help me out on this. by the way photos of the Z28 are soon to follow.

thanks for the help guys

AFR's and a CheaTR cam or the likes. Won't lope very hard at all, and will make awesome power all the way up to 6800ish.

In a M6 that's easy. Start with all the basic bolt-ons which would include:

Lid, catback (or cutout), LT headers, ORY, LSX intake, 90M throttle body, underdrive pulley and a decent clutch that can handle 450 rwhp.

Then get a good heads/cam package from one of our sponsors. I personally like ETP 215 heads and then a decent size cam like the MS3. You'll also need some misc parts like new rods, bolts, timing chain & head gaskets. But the vendors will fill you in on that stuff when you order. You'll also need to have a professional dyno tune your car.

I would also consider suspension upgrades like SFC, LCA, PHB and maybe even a tad bit of weight reduction. This will get you to the 450 rwhp but figure the bill for all this to be at least 6K.

Happy modding

Are you absolutely stuck on N/A? It's going to cost you just as much to build a nice head/cam motor (the right way) as it would to throw a procharger on there. You could do bolt-ons and a 150 shot of nitrous for a lot less money and probably be over 450rwhp. Just a thought.

Are you talking to the wheels or to the motor?

420 rwhp is obtainable, with boltons and a cam. You could so a nice set of ls6 heads and a decent size cam to reach 450. I am at 413 rwhp, with boltons and a cam, and thats through a 12 bolt. I would be making 420+ with the stock 10 bolt.

I was about to type Procharger until I saw your criteria. Damn.
