Default Driving with the TCS switch on daily

Does it hurt to leave the the traction control switch on all the time? I never shut it off. . .. will this harm anything?

Of course not. Other than slowing you down when you lose traction.

But personally I never use mine. Ever.

No, it won't hurt anything at all. If I know I'm going a short distance, I would leave it on. Back when it was a daily driver and I had to drive in the rain or sometimes snow, I would leave it on also. Take your pick how you want to use it. Most people drive all the time with it off. In case you want to accelerate quickly to get out of traffic or just for that quick race on the street that may pop up at anytime.

YES, that's why GM have the default set to ON!!!!

They also figured that people would be much safer having the TCS set to off because they figured people would just drive slower this way

Gee are people just getting dumber and dumber?????

By default it always comes on, as GM intended. TCS won't harm anything, even when engaged... do you understand how/what TCS does?

It's called TCS because if you go to race against someone and leave it on, they're going to say "That Car is Slow" . I know, lame. I'm tired.

I dont know what you guys have against TCS. I punched it in first today and have launched from a light with my TCS on. I was not racing but rather trying to get from pnt. a-b. It did not bog, fall on its face, or anything. There was a VERY SMALL! amount of tire-spin in each case and I honestly couldnt tell you TCS was "working" either time. Had I had a passenger they would have just assumed my car simply hooked well. Did 01 get a revised setup? I know my 95 LT1 felt HORRID, this feels so much better and MUCH LESS intrusive.

I don't mind it - it saves my tires from myself unless I really intend to spin. Then I can choose to turn it off. First time I drove the car and the gas pedal kicked back at me from the TCS (or ASR in the Camaro) system I freaked out.

WOW!!! i dont guess ive ever driven without the ASR!! i just took her out and threw it around some corners and put the petal to the ****** metal, and goddamn i thought it was fast before, that ASR really bogs it down more than i thought. I was thinking my Hallet times seemed pretty slow and could tell it was being kept under wraps by the ASR but i wonder how much faster i can run without ASR on.

it'll allow slight wheel spin. i cang et the can pretty sideways(practicing my drifting...lol) before the asr kicks in and bogs it down. But at the track...whole different story. i went to launch, brought the revs to about 3k, started to slip the clutch to have some slight spin, the motor bogged down, and stay bogged down(pushing the gas pedal against me) for a second or 2 which killed my run completely. It also did it when i went into second and 3rd, just less and less. You'll be faster without it..trust me.

General Rule: If you're too stupid to know what it's for, please leave it on, thanks!

haha. i recommend having it on during rain. we had a fuckstorm last night so i figured id give my tcs a try . In the rain it works well, with it off i was drifting 360s with just a punch of the pedels and a slight turn. TCS will save you ....

But when racing. If you have it on you are an idiot.
