Did a burnout tonight and...
Well after the burnout there seems to be a strange whining sound where the engine is located. I checked the belts and they were fine and tight. As I accelerate the whine pitch goes up. Not quiet sure what it is, but if you can enlighten me I would greatly apreciate it

If it was a spun bearing it would have lost almost all power. Its probably just the belt. Put some belt dressing on it to see if it changes the sound, but do a very little amount so it doesnt throw a belt off

Did he spray it on the burnout?
And yeah, sounds like spun bearing to me too

is it harder to turn could be your power steering pump, especially if you were doing donuts, had mine go out and it wasn't hard to turn at first but got harder after awhile and made a whine

Oh dear.
A whining noise you say??? Probably your poor damn tires getting pissed off and breaking the belts for playing around, but for the whining, check your guages, make sure nothing is out of whack and pray to god you didn't spin a bearing. If the car hasn't lost power you could have just blown your first set of header gaskets or E.M. Depends on the pitch of whining of course. LS1's have a tendency if you're DICKING around in the car and a Noob to blow header gaskets, DON'T ASK WHY! or if you forgot to mention you just hooked up a pro-charger, lol. Good luck. So for not knowing your car, you will probably now spend about $300 and let GM bend you over to give you sand paper in the rear.

Damn. It sounds like the same problem I'm having after doing two burnouts and making three passes at an 1/8th mile track. It never whined before but, now it seems to be coming from the engine's right side as you sit in the car. you can't hear it if you're under the hood. I had my wife rev the car. Also, mine stops at around 35mph. Sound similar?
Could someone explain this "spun bearing" possibility? Where is it? How much would it cost to fix? etc.
