strange, help!!!

strange, help!!! i just left to go to the store less than 1/8th mile there and back. when i got out of the store i started my car, a 2002 z28 w/ 49000mi, it started and the rpms droped below 500 and than jumped to 900 and back below 500 and almost stalled. this dosent seem right to me. the car was up to temp also. im just wondering if anyone knows what could of caused this. id like to find out so i can bring it back to the dealer if somethings wrong. thanks in advance.

If its jumping around in idle you should check you maf. For over heating make sure that your radiator is full.

When you did the lid did you put a fernco (smooth below)... cause if it didn't seal on the TB all the way then you would be getting unmetered air and sometimes that will cause your car to surge like you described...
