Default SS Camaro... Stock SLP Airlid or not?

Silly question, but if I've got a 00 SS Camaro... that would mean it went to SLP for modification....... so does that mean I have a SLP lid already?......

Maybe, maybe not. The SLP lid that was available to be ordered through the GM dealer on a new SS as one of the many Y2Y options was not standard on the SS. It was optional, and it's not the same lid that you would buy aftermarket from SLP. It's made by Blackwing and will have the Blackwing stamping on the face of the lid. Construction wise, the quality is better than the aftermarket lids, but in terms of flow it shares a similar oval opening towards the MAF as the stock lid, rather than the round neck of the aftermarket lids, so flow probably isn't *quite* as good. These lids are usually pretty expensive if you find one used, due to the rarity and high quality construction.

Actually, I'm not even sure if the Blackwing lid was available on the '00 model year SLP cars....I'll see if I can find you a pic....

Here are a couple threads that show pics of the "factory" issued SLP/Blackwing lid:

If your lid doesn't look exactly like these, then your SS did not come with the optional SLP lid.

No, the SLP option lid was only in 2002 SLP cars (SS & Firehawk).

Unless you bought it used and somebody installed one.

Peace,
Craig.
