Help Newbie with LT1 turbo truck
First let I want to apologize as this might have been already talked about but I searched (Promise I did) and found not very much or I don't know how to search properly and also if I am not posting on the right Forum.
My project:
I want a turbo or twin turbo lt1 powered truck or suv.
I have a few options such as 96 tahoe or 95 silverado or something similar though all I have seen are automatic not a singe one stick.
I know it is an LT1 (Right?) but different cams and other specs from the ones in the camaro or others.
Is the Vortech 5700 form 96 and up the same engine same stuff applies?
Should I buy the vortech or non vortech engine both are available?
What is the Compression Ratio for that engine?
How much boost could it take on stock internals?
As much info as you can give me.
Any mods you might sugest, heads, intakes, cams, MSD, ecu tuning (wanted to get the jetchips programer), dataloger.
I have some knowledge on cars and engines (can take appart and put back together motorcycle engines), I know computers very very well so programing and datalogging analisis won't be hard for me. Project will be made in Panama so labor ise very cheap and a lot of custom fabrication can be afforded.
Please please help me or point me in the right direction, my goal is about 500rwhp (if doable, just fantasizing)
I promise I will start a topic once the project is started so you can follow up
Any input help advice would be greatly appreciated
Thanks all the experts

no go on the lt-juan
I believe the lt-1 came in
92-96 vettes
93-97 f-bodies
mid 90's impala ss's
mid 90's roadmasters too but not positive
what you are looking at either has a tbi 350 or a vortec tbi 350. Shouldn't be to hard too find a LT block throw in some forged goodies low comp. pistons, good heads blower cam and a D1-SC and haul ***** easily 500+ rwhp
but dont forget research, research, research also check out the LT-1 section for a more detailed description of what you need.

I have seen some cheap ls1's on ebay, how hard would be the swap?
But i'd rather keep the original engine and work it up.
If it is not an ls1 but I think it is the same block so the same parts should fit, right? (cams, headers, intakes, and so on)
Please advice

ok all trucks and suv's came with a vortec engine for the years you stated 95 and 96. None of them ever got an LT1 in them. you can swap them fairly easy. the only cars to get the LTx engine were as stated above 92-96 vette 93-97 fbody and 95-96 b bodies. i could be wrong on the b bodies though. also the vortec is a good enigne to work with. but if your doing truck why not find a s-10 or somethin. save some weight.
