Default The Order of Mods

I just bought a bone stock 98 ss m6 with 34k. It has SLP dual/dual catback. Im looking for opinions on what order to do mods with the goal of eventually getting to cam/heads. The dual/dual exhaust is too quiet, but Im not ready to give up on it yet. So Im thinking it might go something like this:

Lid/filter
Lt's/ory w/cats on SLP dual/dual
Intake
Suspension/clutch/wheels-tires
Cam/heads(possibly true-duals at this point)
12 bolt

The car will never be more than a weekend driver, but I still want it to be streetable. So I guess the ultimate goal is about 400rwh with bolt-ons, stock bottom end and no juice.

What do you guys think???

If you look in the stickys there is a lot of good information

you are not the first person to ask what mods to get

It's a good list but doesn't it include H/C thats not quite stock internals haha. Good luck on gettin there though.

I would skip the flowmaster, on an ls1 it will flow badly

your abn m6 atleast beef up the 10 bolt 1st or do a 12 bolt as 1st mod......

rear of some sort
good clutch
suspension
sticky tires
then bolt ons

all that power is useless if you cant put it to the ground.....the ls1 has the powwer in stock form to run 12s......

Well, stock bottom end anyway.

Thanks for the replies guys. I figured some of you would tell me to work on putting it to the ground first. I think I will re-think my order a bit.

Trust me as soon as you do LT's and heads your duals will be LOUD! and your duals will net more power, dont even think about changing to a y and catback you'll regret it.

Sound like a good list. The LT's and ORY will wake up the SLP D/D a little but still might be a little too quiet for you, I like to use a cutout with an SLP D/D that way I can go from quiet to loud with a flip of a switch. I had a cop threatened to write me a ticket once for modified exhaust once because he caught me revving my engine under a freeway under pass so being able to go from loud to quiet is good. also with heads and cam you will easily able to break the 400 rwhp mark. Good luck.

I edited my original post.

I don't remember why I put that up considering it already had it when I picked it up. Hopefully over winter, I'll be installing a borla setup. Heard an Ls1 with it, man did it sound goooooooood.

Dont forget a new transmission guys lol the stock 4l60e was dieing out on me at around 50k miles and my buddy with a m6 he bent a tooth :/. If you got a 4l60e I would build it up a bit before going into the h/c situation. Shift kits are fun!

I think that trying to put it to the ground would be the best way first,

1. cut out
2. subframe connectors
3. rear end
4. heads/ cam (preferrably together)
5. TB

and more if you feel like it.

Well I absolutely cant stand that this thing doesnt sound like a muscle car. So LT's,ORY and cutouts will probably happen soon.
