Ls motor in sandrail
New to forum and have found some great info but thought I would ask one of the most repeated questions, what cam??????? I am using a 5.3l L33 model, I know not a ls1 but same family. This will be in a 2000lb buggy with manual trans. I am having the ecm burnt for what ever cam i get and to delete things i dont need. I have been told and found through research that this motor has the ls6 heads already on it and it will have long tube headers with not really any mufflers so free flowing. My question is what is the biggest baddest nastiest cam I can use? loss of low end is not really a worry cause it will be reved alot. I plan on changing springs and such but want to keep block stock. Also any other bolt ons that are well worth it?? Thanks for the help!!!

a 5.3 does not have ls6 heads, it has 5.3 heads.. which are good if ported.
Have the heads worked and milled, get an ls6 manifold and 228/228 ish .598/.598 ish cam and enjoy 400rwhp.

found this on this sight as well as other chevy sights
RPO L33, a lighter, higher output variant of the Vortec 5300 that became available on short bed, extended cab Silverado and Sierra models in 2005, features an aluminum engine block; cylinder heads from the LS6 that were originally developed for the Z06 Corvette; and a high-lift cam.
could be wrong but but have found it in several places
