LQ4 vs. LQ9
I plan on putting a 6.0l LS motor for my Monte Carlo. (https://ls1tech.com/forums/showthrea...73#post8096373) We are shopping around now for a new motor. My question is, what should I be looking for? LQ4 or LQ9? Any years better than others? How can i easily identify one from the other, just to be sure what I am getting? To start, I plan on putting in a bigger cam, L92 heads, carburated intake, TH350 transmission, 9" Ford rear. Eventually, I would like to put a ProCharger on the motor, without having to radically rebuild the motor when it comes time to put on a ProCharger. Any suggestions?

Build it around 9-1 compression and you can just do a carb swap and run a blow-through carb set up when you get your blower, get your cam with a 112-115 lobe seperation.
My friend is running low 8's with a 406 with a centrifugal blower and blow-through carb.

I believe the only difference between LQ4 and LQ9 is compression ratio, LQ4 at 9.2:1 +- went into trucks (express vans, 2500+ P/U,and alot of tahoes and yukons. The LQ9 @ 10.5:1 +- went into mostly escallades and all of the high end generals. The LQ4 would be the better pick IF your going to a carb, but if you plan on keeping F.I. then go with LQ9. Because 10.5:1 because is a little easier to tune for pump gas, after all it got it from the factory. I think there is like a 80 ft/lb difference in torque, LQ9's run great with a mild cam and an upgrade to L92 heads and intake package.
