patriot heads?
anyone know which would be the best for what im looking for?
i see they have alot of heads on there for ls motors...
Id like to see over 400rwhp with good driveability....Ive got a set of ls6 heads that i will sell, i hear you have to port the hell out of them to get the kind of flow that an aftermarket heads gives.
the motor is an 02 ls1, where would a set of patriot heads, cam, longtubes and ported throttle body put me?
how much are ls6 heads worth? and how much are the stock ls1 heads worth?

Patriot heads are LS6 heads, just ported. I just bought me the LS6 59cc ported heads today. I would honestly keep the heads that you have, port and mill them and you will get numbers around 300cfm with a CR of 11-1. You will easily hit 400 hp with these heads and a cam.

damn, 11:1 I thought the ls6's brought it to 10.5:1.
how much would someone charge to get 300cfm out of them? are they around 275 stock?

You'll be ok as long as you use the high octane gas. I'd call a machine shop and see how much they charge cause it depends on the shop. You can also have them sent to Patriot to have them ported. I'd just call and ask them what they charge. The valve springs are depending on the cam, but it would be in your best interest that you upgrade the springs with the cam.
You can increase the CR by milling the heads and decreasing the combustion chamber volume. A 59cc head is around an 11-1 CR. But with milling comes the factors of flycutting the pistons (depending on the cam duration) and shorter than stock pushrods. When I talked to Patriot they said that I can use the 7.4 pushrods with their 59cc heads cause their milling doesn't affect the head deck for these heads.
And I believe that LS6 heads have a cfm flow around 260.
Ask Fotoboy any questions you have cause he's got a lot more experience with these heads than I do. I just got done with researching them so all I can do is spit out info I just looked up and was given by Thunder Racing and Patriot. He can give you real life numbers since he's ran these heads on his car.

I'm running the older style patriot heads and they work for me. All the numbers are in my sig. My CR is 11:1 and I have been forced to run 89 octane at one point with no bad results. My heads are not 243 castings that have been ported. They are another casting ported in the "LS6 Style". There are tons of people running patriot heads because it is hard to beat them for the money. Just look around in the Gen III internal section and you will see lots of stuff about them. Also look in the dyno section if you want to see numbers.

You can go with the LS6 stage 2 set up that a 64 cc and it can put your compression up to 10.7.1 with out messing around with the pistons.
But like said above I'd see what you can do with your heads first. I'd call Patriot and see what they say.

You won't even notice 11:1. As long as you use premium gas you will never have problems with 11:1. It says he has a fast in his signature. That is the next step on mine. It made the numbers in my sig on an LS6 intake.

that would be very nice...but very expensive, i see some impressive gains with it though.....
anyone know what ls6 heads are going for and what 02 ls1 heads are going for? if i sold both them id probably have close to enough to buy a set of patriot heads that i wont have to sink hundreds of dollars in like i would the ls6's
